Method

You must go to the desired npc with the mission and say task or mission, (different NPC's respond to different terms - see transcripts for individual wording).

Rank can only be advanced by completing tasks of Grizzly Adams. Repeated tasks still count for the task-count.

In order to contribute a specific monster towards your total (say an individual mammoth towards the 300) you will need to gain the most experience from it. In a party-share scenario, the player dealing the most damage will be the one that gets the kill attributed. Summoned monsters dealing maximum damage (ie: where the summoner deals no damage) still contribute towards to summoners kill-count (ie: if a summoned demon skeleton does all 320 damage to a mammoth, that mammoth will still count as one of the 300 needed by the summoner).

NOTES:

  • Once you have accepted a task, it doesn't matter what level you finish the task (i.e. you can finish the minotaurs task in any level once you have been assigned it).
  • Some of these quests can be repeated again up to three times as long as you have the correct level. Even if you kill more than what is required for the previous task, the counter will still reset and start at 0 (the extras killed will not count towards the next task if repeated). Since Fall Patch 2011 now up to three Paw and Fur tasks can be worked on at the same time.
  • Players of level 130 or higher will receive extra bonus points for their tasks providing that they have less than 70 points already.
    • 3 extra points for those who have 0 to 20 task points.
    • 2 points more to those which have 21 to 40 task points.
    • 1 extra point to players who have 41 to 70 task points.
  • Tasks for killing Minotaurs, Pirates, Necromancers are not repeatable, tasks for killing Demodras and Tiquandas Revenge can be repeated once if you fail to kill it the first time, all other tasks can be repeated multiple times. Killing summoned creatures does not count towards your kill total.
  • Attaining the highest rank of the Paw and Fur - Hunting Elite does not lock you out from Grizzly Adams' hunting tasks. You just won't be able to recieve more task points.
  • You can get tasks from different NPCs and complete them together, e.g. you can work on up to 3 Grizzly Adams' tasks alongside Budrik's task without abandoning one task for another.
  • Inorder to have the right to kill bosses, you must do hunting tasks (even if you have 100 points).
  • Players who have reached the maximum points for their level's rank will not receive more points. When they complete tasks however they may select from any boss in or below their level range. The bosses in a lower tier may only be selected once (this is intended to receive the achievements). In addition, level 130s who have maximized their task points will not spend boss points when choosing bosses from a lower tier.
    • For example, a level 130 with maximum points may receive the task to kill The Old Widow without spending boss points. Once they've killed the boss one time, they will be unable to select that boss again. If the same level 130 instead accepted the task to kill The Many, one boss point would be consumed. For this reason and because players aren't bound in how many boss tasks can be active, it is recommended to request all lower tier boss tasks before asking for a 130-range boss.

Level 6-49 Tasks

There are eleven tasks for this level range, they are listed in a table:

Giver Task Amount Requirements Reward Achievement Boss Total Paw & Fur Points Premium Required
Grizzly Adams Crocodiles 300 Level 6-49 800 exp Blood-Red Snapper The Snapper 1 yes

Grizzly Adams Thornback Tortoises 300 Level 6-49 1,500 exp - - 2 yes
Grizzly Adams Gargoyles 200 Level 6-49 1,500 exp - - ? yes

Badgers

It is hard to find Badgers in large quantities together, but if you reach the level you can face Mammoths, you can take this task as well because those two creatures are found together near Svargrond quite a bit. This task gives little experience/loot and only 1 Paw & Fur point, it is not really recommended to do it.

Crocodiles

This is probably the easiest task in the lowest level range and it is a good idea to do it since The Snapper can drop quite valuable items (at least for low levels) and you have a chance to loot Crocodile Boots. The best place to hunt Crocodiles would be the cave north of Port Hope. Alternately you can hunt them on the jungle surface or the Laguna Islands, but those spawns consist more of other creatures. Bring a few potions, in case you get surrounded.

Gargoyles

It is very hard to find large quantities of Gargoyles together. Some can be found in Ankrahmun Tombs but the largest easily accessible spawn is probably in the first level of the Farmine Mines, where you can find ~10 of them. There are also ~14 Gargoyles on the Vengoth mountain, but they to reach them you'll have to face Vampires, Elder Beholders, Haunted Treelings, Energy Elementals, which are probably too strong for your level at this moment. If you combine this task with the Stone Golems task, it might be worth to do.

Tarantulas

Like the Crocodiles task, this task is a good one and recommended to do (even repeatedly). If you are around level 25 (also depends on vocation) you can start to hunt Tarantulas in the Tiquanda/Tarantula Caves. Fighting Hide will probably give you some nice loot, combined with the valuable Tarantula Eggs and Steel Helmets will result in good profit and experience.

Terramites

This task is a reasonable good one to do, enough Terramites can be found in the Zao Terramite Caves. You will get reasonable experience, but the loot is a little monotonous, which makes this a somewhat boring task. Since Updates/9.86 you can also go to the Darama Terramite Cave.

Gnarlhounds

You can find enough Gnarlhound on the Zao Steppe and the Gnarlhound Caves. Their loot is a little monotonous and therefore boring, but this is a good task for lower levels (around level 20).

Apes

When reaching level 35-40 this task becomes the best task to do. There are almost always enough Apes to find in Banuta, even with multiple people hunting there. The experience and loot is good and this task is recommended to do (even repeatedly).

Thornback Tortoises

Thornback Tortoises have a high defence, therefore you need high skills to kill them. They can be found in good quantities in the caves below the Laguna Islands. Since you will hunt normal Tortoises you will get some sellable addon items as well. This task has reasonable experience and loot.

Stone Golems

It is hard to find large spawns of Stone Golems, the best place are the Farmine Mines (which can be a crowded place though). This is a good task to do if you have the level and skills, you will gain good experience and make profit with Iron Ore and other stones. You can combine this task with the Gargoyles task.

Carniphilas

Carniphilas deal high damage, some of it non-blockable, therefore you will waste supplies hunting them. The only reason to still do this task, is for the chance to fight the Deathbine with a chance to loot a Mandrake. You can find Carniphilas mostly in the north and east part of Tiquanda, enough quantity to hunt continuously. Since Updates/9.86 they can also be found in large quantities in the Tiquanda Laboratory.

Mammoths

This task is a good one, there are lots of Mammoths, very close to Svargrond (this being the best place). They give good experience and valuable loot and The Bloodtusk will probably yield some good loot as well. A task recommended to do.

Level 50-79 Tasks

There are eleven tasks in this level range, they are listed below:

Giver Task Amount Requirements Reward Achievement Boss Total Paw & Fur Points Premium Required
Grizzly Adams Ice Golems 300 Level 50-79 12,000 exp Breaking the Ice Shardhead 2 yes
Grizzly Adams Quara Scouts 400 Level 50-79 10,000 exp - - 2 yes
Grizzly Adams Mutated Rats 400 Level 50-79 10,000 exp Twisted Mutation Esmeralda 2 yes
Grizzly Adams Ancient Scarabs 250 Level 50-79 15,000 exp Crawling Death Fleshcrawler 2 yes
Grizzly Adams Wyverns 300 Level 50-79 12,000 exp - - 2 yes
Grizzly Adams Lancer Beetles 300 Level 50-79 8,000 exp - - 2 yes
Grizzly Adams Wailing Widows 400 Level 50-79 12,000 exp - - 3 yes
Grizzly Adams Killer Caimans 250 Level 50-79 10,000 exp - - 2 yes
Grizzly Adams Bonebeasts 300 Level 50-79 12,000 exp Spareribs for Dinner Ribstride 2 yes
Grizzly Adams Crystal Spiders 300 Level 50-79 15,000 exp Arachnoise The Bloodweb 3 yes
Grizzly Adams Mutated Tigers 250 Level 50-79 12,000 exp - - 3 yes

Ice Golems

Ice Golems are found mostly on top of the Formorgar Glacier together with Crystal Spiders, there are 17 on the way to the Formorgar Mines, but small amounts can also be found on almost all floors of the Formorgar Mines. To access the mines you'll have to do The Ice Islands Quest until mission 9. Since Updates/9.86 they can also be found in the Nibelor Ice Cave.

It is recommended to combine this task with the task for Crystal Spiders since they inhabit the same area. Primarily designed for mages because they have high defense and hit hard. As a knight you might want level 65 and skills 80/80 before attempting this task.

Quara Scouts

Before Updates/9.86 this was not a good task, but since then it is a lot more feasible. You can find Quara Scouts on Malada, but it's easier to go to one of the two Hrodmir Quara Scout Caves, near Svargrond.

Mutated Rats

Ancient Scarabs

This task is very good for mages and paladins. You can find many ancient scarabs under Ankrahmun desert. The biggest spawn is near teleport to Fleshcrawler. You only need 250 ancient scarabs to finish the task and they also give very good loot, aswell as their boss, which can drop Ornamented Brooch, that can be sold for very high price on certain worlds.

Wyverns

It is no challenge to kill Wyverns at a low level with average skills, but since there aren't much Wyverns in one place this task is hard to finish. If you want to do this you could move around in Edron where there are some wyvern spawns close to each other. There is also a large spawn at Ferngrims Gate. It is not recommended to do this task.

Lancer Beetles

It is best to combine this task with the Wailing Widow task, so you can hunt both creatures in the Zao Wailing Widow Cave. It is adviced to be at least level 60 with skills 75 (as a knight) when doing this task.

Killer Caimans

The best place to hunt them would be in the Killer Caiman Cave in Zao Steppe. Killer Caimans drop a lot of loot in Small Emeralds, Giant Shimmering Pearls, and Obsidian Lances, and are also worth a lot of experience for their power level, making this a very good task to do.

Bonebeasts

Many Bonebeasts can be found in different places, such as Helheim. The best spawn for this level range however is by far Ramoa ("bonebeast island"), requiring The Shattered Isles Quest - Access to Ramoa. Paladins will have no problems with this task, but mages and especially knights may struggle.

Crystal Spiders

Recommended to combine with the Ice Golem task. Crystal Spiders can be found in the Formorgar Glacier and on the glacier here. Since Updates/9.86 they can also be found in the Nibelor Ice Cave.

Mutated Tigers

This task can be easily combined with Mutated Rats to do this on Yalahar Zoo Quarter, under arena to get some free task points.

Wailing Widows

It is best to combine this task with the Lancer Beetle task, so you can hunt both creatures in the Zao Wailing Widow Cave. It is adviced to be at least level 60 with skills 75 (as a knight) when doing this task. With a little higher skills you can make good profit.

Level 80-129 Tasks

There are nine tasks in this level range, they are listed below:

Giver Task Amount Requirements Reward Achievement Boss Total Paw & Fur Points Premium Required
Grizzly Adams Underwater Quara 600 Level 80-129 15,000 exp Back into the Abyss Thul 3 yes
Grizzly Adams Giant Spiders 500 Level 80-129 20,000 exp Choking on Her Venom The Old Widow 3 yes
Grizzly Adams Werewolves 300 Level 80-129 30,000 exp Howly Silence Hemming 4 yes
Grizzly Adams Nightmares 400 Level 80-129 25,000 exp Dream's Over Tormentor 3 yes
Grizzly Adams Hellspawns 600 Level 80-129 25,000 exp Scorched Flames Flameborn 4 yes
Grizzly Adams High Class Lizards 800 Level 80-129 30,000 exp Zzztill Zzztanding! Fazzrah 3 yes
Grizzly Adams Stampors 600 Level 80-129 20,000 exp Stepped on a Big Toe Tromphonyte 3 yes
Grizzly Adams Brimstone Bugs 500 Level 80-129 15,000 exp Something Smells Sulphur Scuttler 3 yes
Grizzly Adams Mutated Bats 400 Level 80-129 20,000 exp Kapow! Bruise Payne 2 yes

Mutated Bats

There are no big spawns of Mutated Bats so you usually wanna combine it with other task. You can hunt those on Yalahar Cemetery Quarter along with Giant Spiders, mages can also take this task around level 90-100 and hunt them together with Souleaters on Souleater Mountains. This is the fastest way, but paladins or knights can't go there, since Souleaters are very resistant to physical damage.

Giant Spiders

There are several places where you can hunt those, if you start Quara Scouts task you can combine it while hunting at Malada, another option is doing it along with Mutated Bats task at Cemetery Quarter in Yalahar, but the biggest spawn containing Giant Spiders only is at Forbidden Land GS Cave. Remember to bring any melee weapon to break spider webs in the cave.

Nightmares

The fastest way to do this task is hunting on Yalahar Cemetery Quarter. You can also go to the Forgomar Mines, though it will be less efficient. Task not recommended for mages.

Underwater Quara

There are only 2 reasonable places to hunt all kinds of Quaras: Sunken Quarter in Yalahar and Calassa. This task might be very good for mages using exori vis and earth/energy wand or rod, or any ammunition for the level as paladin. Knights aren't welcome here since Quara Predators can hit up to 400 easily.
Knights can do the task fairly easy on the first Frozen Trench level, as there are only Mantassins and Constrictors. The experience gained is not good, but it's the safest and wasteless way.

High Class Lizards

This task is only recommended for paladins, since knights and mages will have a lot of troubles killing those lizards at level range 80-130. Paladins can easily do this task while hunting on Muggy Plains or even one of the Lizard Chosen spawns. Although you might have problems to reach the boss alone, additionally, the boss requires certain mission of Wrath of the Emperor Quest started.

Stampors

Recommended for mages only due to their high armor. Because only one cave exists, it may be difficult to finish this task.

It is recommended to take the High Class Lizards task in conjunction as you will kill a few on the way in/out.

Brimstone Bugs

This task can make you get a lot of cash easily, since Brimstone Bugs drop many creature products and also valuable Magic Sulphurs. You can do the task in one of two Brimstone Bug caves in Northern Zao Plantations. Although remember that Brimstone Bugs can be very dangerous in larger groups, especially for mages around level 90.

Werewolves

Paladins of level 90 with distance 85 or higher can do this task easily and profit, although it will take a long time as the best spawn of Werewolves is the Werewolves cave on Vengoth, which has a fairly low spawn rate and spawn count. Knights can do this task taking one on one and learning how to take advantage of the spawn. Keep in mind that 2 Werewolves + summons can easily send you to the temple, though.

Hellspawns

There is only one place to hunt those - Yalahar Magician Quarter. This task is fairly easy to do for all vocations but knights. Paladins can start hunting them with energy walls on the surface around levels 80-90 and mages can start that with death or ice wand/rod around 100-120, or more efficiently, hunt them underground with blocker using Avalanche. Remember to prepare for Plaguesmiths.

Level 130+ Tasks

There are ten tasks in this level range, they are listed below:

Giver Task Amount Requirements Reward Achievement Boss Total Paw & Fur Points Premium Required
Grizzly Adams Hydras 650 Level 130+ 30,000 exp One Less The Many 3 yes
Grizzly Adams Serpent Spawns 800 Level 130+ 30,000 exp Hissing Downfall The Noxious Spawn 4 yes
Grizzly Adams Medusae 500 Level 130+ 40,000 exp The Serpent's Bride Gorgo 5 yes
Grizzly Adams Behemoths 700 Level 130+ 30,000 exp Just Cracked Me Up! Stonecracker 4 yes
Grizzly Adams Sea Serpents and Young Sea Serpents 900 Level 130+ 30,000 exp The Drowned Sea God Leviathan 4 yes
Grizzly Adams Hellhounds 250 Level 130+ 40,000? exp The Gates of Hell Kerberos 5 yes
Grizzly Adams Ghastly Dragons 500 Level 130+ 30,000 exp Beautiful Agony Ethershreck 5 yes
Grizzly Adams Drakens 900 Level 130+ 30,000 exp Enter zze Draken! Paiz the Pauperizer 3 yes
Grizzly Adams Destroyers 650 Level 130+ 30,000 exp? King of the Ring Bretzecutioner 4 yes
Grizzly Adams Undead Dragons 400 Level 130+ 50,000 exp Back from the Dead Zanakeph 6 yes

Hydras

Task for all vocations. It can be started even right away at level 130, thought it's not very efficient. It's recommended to take this task together with Serpent Spawns and Medusae, which you can all hunt on Deep and Deeper Banuta. Other places where you can hunt them is Talahu, Forbidden Land Hydra Cave, Eastern Tiquanda Mountains.

Drakens

Since Drakens usually come in large groups and are relatively strong, this task is recommended only for high levels, which can hunt them for example on the Walls on Razzachai.

Behemoths

Profitable task, one of the better places to hunt those is Cyclopolis, where ED+EK strategy works very well. Paladins may consider hunting them at Vandura Mountains.

Sea Serpents

Requires The Hunt for the Sea Serpent Quest as all Sea Serpents spawn inside the one area. Highly recommended for knights, but paladins can easily do this task too. Mages will want to avoid it.

Serpent Spawns

You can take that task early as paladin and hunt them on Deep Banuta or at high level with mage using thunderstorm runes on Deeper Banuta along with Hydras and Medusae task. You can also hunt them on Talahu Medusa and Serpent Spawn cave.

Destroyers

Paladins can hunt them on Alchemist Quarter in Yalahar, EK+ED teams might consider taking this task while hunting in Forgomar Mines, others will want to avoid it.

Medusae

You can take that task early as paladin and hunt them on Deep Banuta or at high level with mage using thunderstorm runes on Deeper Banuta along with Hydras and Serpent Spawns task. You can also hunt them on Talahu Medusa and Serpent Spawn cave.

Ghastly Dragons

This task is only recommended for paladins, since they're the only vocation that can cure Ghastly Dragon's curse, which can hit really really hard. Ghastly Dragons leave insane loot what makes the task very profitable, though most of the spawns require certain quest to access the place. Equipment with death/physical resistance recommended.

Hellhounds

There are no huntable Hellhound spawns at the moment. Avoid this task if you can. Generally, no vocation will enjoy this task even if decent spawns existed. If you really want the achievement, probably the best place is Infernatil's Throneroom. There are 9 there, along with a lot of Hellfire Fighters and three Demons. The boss is one of the strongests in the quest, alongside with Zanakeph.

Undead Dragons

High level paladins can hunt those at Inner Sanctum along with the Ghastly Dragons task. Other vacations will have a hard time doing this task. Other than that, the boss is one of the strongests in the quest, along with Kerberos.
