The Ghostsilver Lantern - Scientific Research into Arcane Artefacts
Some months ago I found a clue leading to an ancient artefact in one of the oldest tomes in this library: the Ghostsilver Lantern. Many centuries ago some of these magical artefacts were created by a powerful mage. They are made from magically treated silver and glass coated with ghostly ectoplasm. Nowadays unknown runes are engraved into the silver braces of the lantern. Thus the artefact is able to reveal hidden doors when lit. It even uncovers entrances that would otherwise be completely invisible to the naked eye. As the mage sadly didn't (or couldn't) pass his knowledge on to posterity, we can't create Ghostsilver Lanterns without further ado today. Yet I'm convinced that at least one of these lanterns still exists in the old masonry my circle has chosen for its current homestead. In the course of my explorations ofl the rooms and hallways, I discovered a separate chamber, only reachable by a stairway on the lowest floor. High in a corner there was a thick spider web and something was glittering in the sticky strands. I could catch a glimpse of a silvery and blue object that could very well have been one of the said lanterns. I couldn't reach it (not that I was afraid of the big spider guarding the web) so I had to leave empty-handed. Later on I could not return because this time the lowest floor was flooded with the creepy shapers that suddenly showed up here. I hope we'll drive them back soon so that I'll have a chance to obtain the precious artefact. With a treasure like this I could probably gain the favour of the Circle Master Uquora herself. (And I hope that before we defeat them the shapers will have made short work of the huge spider that was between me and the lantern. … Of course it was the lack of a ladder that hindered me from taking it, as I already noted.)

Alguns meses atrás eu encontrei uma pista que levava a um artefato antigo em um dos tomos mais antigos dessa biblioteca: A Lanterna de Prata Fantasma. Muitos séculos atrás, alguns desses artefatos mágicos foram criados por um mago poderoso. Eles são feitos com vidro e prata tratados magicamente e cobertos com ectoplasma de fantasma. Hoje em dia runas desconhecidas estão gravadas nas braçadeiras de prata da lanterna. Assim, o artefato é capaz de revelar portas escondidas quando aceso. Ele até mesmo descobre entradas que seriam, caso contrário, completamente invisíveis a olho nu. Como o mago, infelizmente, não passou (ou não conseguiu passar) seu conhecimento para a posterioridade, nós não podemos criar Lanternas de Prata Fantasma sem muitas dificuldades hoje. Ainda assim, eu estou convencido de que pelo menos uma dessas lanternas ainda existe na antiga construção que meu círculo escolheu como sua atual moradia. No curso das minhas explorações dos salões e corredores, eu descobri uma câmara separada, somente acessível por uma escadaria no andar mais baixo. Em um canto alto havia uma teia grossa de aranha e algo estava brilhando nos fios grudentos. Eu consegui ver de relance um objeto azul e prateado que poderia muito bem ser uma das tais lanternas. Eu não consegui alcançá-la (não que eu estivesse com medo da grande aranha protegendo a teia) então tive que sair de mãos vazias. Mais tarde, eu não pude retornar pois desta vez o andar mais baixo estava lotado de formadores esquisitos que apareceram de repente. Eu espero que possamos espantá-los de lá logo para que eu possa ter uma chance de obter o precioso artefato. Com um tesouro como esse eu provavelmente poderia ganhar o respeito da própria Líder do Círculo Uquora. (E eu espero que, antes que os derrotemos, os formadores tenham acabado com a aranha enorme que estava entre eu e a lanterna. … É claro que foi a falta de uma escada que me impediu de pegá-la, como eu já mencionei.)
