| | history = The biting books were literally created out of the stuff of nightmares.When tasked with creating a kind of guardian dog for Zathroth hoard, his librarians came up with several fiendish ideas. Many guardian creatures were prototyped but none could impress the collective of librarians who always favoured only their own creations. Finally one of them tasked nightmares and other demons to scavenge the fringes of subconsciousnesses of the dreaming other librarians of what scared them most. The amalgam of their loot was condensed into the form of the biting book. The librarians recognized what has been done there and reluctantly agreed that this creation would suit the role fine. In the centuries since then, many of the biting books were created and trained by their new masters. Indeed they act like some sort of dog and can be sometimes even playful with their owner. Still they are dangerous beasts and excellent companions as well as guardians for the libraries. They are resilient, never sleep and despite their appearance have keen senses. They can feel the slightest vibrations of the floor, their eyes are able to see in the spectrum of magic and their tongue is able to pick up smells from miles away. They are shrewed and aggressive fighters, albeit on a primal level and they are fiercely loyal to their master. Still a few of their kind proved too aggressive for training or went mad by mistreatment. Those were chained to walls to provide a scary obstacle for intruders. The bitting books only major flaw is their diet which consists of ill-written stories and poetry. | | | history = Os "Biting Books" foram literalmente criados a partir da matéria dos pesadelos. Quando foram encarregados de criar uma espécie de cão-guardião para o tesouro de [[Zathroth]], seus bibliotecários apresentaram várias ideias demoníacas. Muitas criaturas guardiãs foram prototipadas, mas ninguém conseguiu impressionar o coletivo de bibliotecários que sempre favoreciam apenas suas próprias criações. Finalmente, um deles incumbiu pesadelos e outros demônios para limpar as franjas de subconsciência dos outros bibliotecários que sonhavam com o que mais os assustava. O amálgama de seu saque foi condensado na forma de um ''livro mordedor''. Os bibliotecários reconheceram o que foi feito lá e relutantemente concordaram que essa criação serviria bem ao papel. Ainda são feras perigosas e excelentes companheiras, bem como guardiões das bibliotecas. Eles são resilientes, nunca dormem e, apesar de sua aparência, têm sentidos aguçados. Eles podem sentir as menores vibrações do chão, seus olhos são capazes de ver o espectro da magia e sua língua é capaz de captar odores a quilômetros de distância. Eles são guerreiros afiados e agressivos, embora em um nível primitivo e são ferozmente leais ao seu mestre. Ainda assim, alguns deles se mostraram agressivos demais para treinar ou enlouquecem por maus-tratos. Aqueles foram acorrentados às paredes para fornecer um obstáculo assustador para intrusos. A única grande falha dos Biting Books é a sua dieta, que consiste em histórias mal escritas e poesia. |
