(The book goes on with descriptions of various Planegazer discoveries in the first chapter, some chapters describe various methods of research while others are dedicated to ongoing research.)

Site XVII: The youngest and one of the most complete of the surviving Planestrider sites. Undoubtedly the most important as well. There has been (illegible) and we are still not sure, whether the cause was our own interference on site XIV. Our mission to conceal our progress and cover the very existence of our group has been largely successful so far. However, there were slip-ups. Time and time again, we failed to (illegible) which, in part, led to the (a large portion of this paragraph is illegible).

We can safely say that this device (some parts of the next sentence have all but disappeared due to damage to the book), which means that it can be used to assemble something. Much like our discoveries on site (strangely, this part has been erased intentionally not too long ago it seems) this device will only accept specific objects and operates (illegible) so attempting to open it may render the whole contraption useless. We know of at least two artefacts which would fit in this device. One of which has not yet been found, at least the (illegible) has not yet laid hands on any such item. We learned of a (several portions of this paragraph seem to have been hastily erased, the pages are in very good condition, however) who managed to discover an impressive amount of artefacts. Presumably to destroy these magically imbued trinkets. (illegible) was known for being reluctant in sharing either information or any physical objects of any kind. We tried. Without blowing our cover and jeopardising everything we have worked for, there is no way to get to (yet another erased passage).
